Garbage controls and limited ammunition: Imagine, you are trying to escape the zombie infested hell you have found yourself in, you turn a corner only to be bombarded with a horde of zombies. And some of these files are genuinely creep-tastic. The notes and letters scattered through the game give the player insight to what it may have been like before shit hit the fan. Shit graphics were made up for with beautiful and detailed pre-rendered backgrounds that felt realistic and grimy. But Resident Evil pulled it off flawlessly. This isn’t easy to do when the virtual world is populated with polygonal people and questionable voice acting. Developers had to bring the player into the world, make them believe that what they are seeing is real. What makes this game so great? To name a few…Ītmosphere: The defining feature of the survival horror genre of the day was atmosphere. “It started as something creepy to play for our Halloween Special and turned into something…inhuman.” If you tuned into /BananaROMa on any Tuesday night of 2015 there is a good chance you caught FelixNloom obsessivley playing Resident Evil 2. We are just using this as an excuse to spend more time remembering the old as fuck games that kept us warm during 2015. Nah, not when you have a robit (sic) and a cave girl backing you up. Parents? You don’t need adult supervision when you’re on a mission to save the world from Lavos. And how can you blame them? They were raised on these games.
